Stars + Stripes + Mint + Craft

Warm weather brings everyone outside and we’re looking forward to all the live music happening in our little corner of downtown. Nothing complements great music better than great food and a comfy patio. Luckily, we’ve got both!

Live Music Outside!

Mint+Craft is teaming up with our next door neighbors at Williams Sonoma to host live outdoor music throughout the summer between our stores on Sundays from 12pm - 2:30pm.

Artisan Chocolates are coming to the Mint Mercantile! We can’t wait to feature Feve Artisan Chocolatier and Alma handmade chocolates in the mercantile. These chocolates speak for themselves, but here’s what the makers have to say about their creations:

Feve Artisan Chocolatier was inspired by the desire to create innovative and sustainable chocolate confections that offer a unique artistic culinary and transformative social justice experience. Feve products are "Elegance with a Conscience."
- Shawn Williams, Feve Artisan Chocolates
Called "theobroma" or food of the gods in Latin, we believe that good chocolate is worthy of worship. We make every batch of toffee, every jar of caramel, every bar and each hand-dipped bon bon with the intention of honoring chocolate.
- Sarah Hart, Alma handmade chocolates

Wine: “Savanna Rhea” Rosé
Producer: Press Gang Cellars
Winemaker: Kyle Knapp
Varietal: Grenache
Vintage: 2016
Growing Region: Los Olivos District AVA

Kyle Knapp is a winemaker I inherently trust. He consistently makes flavorful, clean and interesting wines. He named this rosé for his wife, Savanna, and what makes this such a fun offering is the bottling. Kyle decided to bottle this wine on the lees which gives the rosé a cloudy, ethereal, and dream-like quality in addition to packing even more flavor into the wine. The nose and palate is bursting with juicy grapefruit cocktail notes and playful acidity. It’s perfect for a warm sunny day and Mint + Craft fare.

February News

Lots of love this month! Spreading our love for wine, art, Valentines', and lattes. We're also stoked to share the new menu change with you--check out the new bites + snacks section, as well as new items added to your old favorites. Here are a few highlights...

sesame-miso butter, micro onion sprouts, whole grain bread

legumes, winter vegetables, duck confit, sausage, pork belly, breadcrumbs + green salad

naan, sweet potato spread, market vegetables, olive oil, goat feta, za'atar

cavatapi, 3 cheese truffled cream, criminis, herb breadcrumbs, green salad

local artisan sausages, pickles, beer mustard, crostini

crostini, nuts, local salted honey

confit pee wee potatoes, herb buttermilk dressing

criminis, parmesan cream, breadcrumbs

We asked our wine director, Kielly Lewis, about a bottle she's currently excited about from each location (Mint + Craft, Novo, Luna Red, Robin's), and to tell us a little about it. So from our little wine shop to yours, here's this month's pick:

2013 Foxen 7200
“Range 30 West”

Producer: Foxen Winery
Winemaker: Billy Wathen
Varietal: 52% Merlot, 48% Cabernet Franc
Vintage: 2013
Growing Region: Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara AVA

Full transparency, I am a sucker for this wine. That, and Foxen was the first winery I worked for after transitioning from working in kitchens to slinging wine. I have a deep sense of loyalty to this brand and I will always try to expose as many people possible to Billy’s wines.
This wine is outrageously delicious with cedar, smashed black plums, red and black currants, dark lilac flowers that show elegantly with layered notes of smoked chipotle peppers. It is, of course, an amazing food wine, but I could (and I do) drink this by itself--letting myself get lost in the wine’s layers and complexities.
-Kielly Lewis, Wine Director

As part of our Art After Dark 2018 series exploring Food as Art, Vana Tisanes and Baceae join us for ENHANCE: showcasing the world of blending herbs and crafting food for beyond basic sustenance.

Founders and creators Mike and Miho bring their expertise and artistry for an evening that is sure to be educational as well as beautiful--complete with sips of tea and cbd bites.
